Life is a Journey

posted by Daniel Blackaby

God’s really laid on my heart to determine whose faith I’ve been living? God calls us into a deeply personal relationship with Him. He desires to walk alongside us, to teach and go deeper with us. As I go about my life this week, God’s challenged me to look for what He might be saying to me. What is He trying to teach me through my experiences this week?

“From your Valentine”

posted by Kaylan Christopher

Every February, during the days leading up to the 14th of the month, you can walk into almost any store and find an abundance chocolate hearts wrapped in foil, stuffed teddy bears in a wide variety of colors, cards that send out affectionate messages, and pink- and red-colored everything else. For some, it is a favorite holiday. And for others, it is dreaded and despised. Nonetheless, people spend pocketfulls of money each year at this time to show just how much they love those special someones in their lives.

From Tragedy to Glory: Union University

Union University

Figure 1 An aerial view shows the path of the F-4 tornado that hit Union University’s campus on Feb. 5, as well as the breadth of the destruction.

I’m a Union University evangelist. I have been for a few years now. I love my alma mater. I loved it while I was there and missed it terribly when I left. I have even voluntarily attended recruitment events after graduation. But I have never been more proud of the “ole UU” than in the last week.

Enough for This Day

posted by Lisa Huddleston

God wanted the Israelites to walk in daily dependence on Him, and He wants that same kind of dependence from His children today. No, God is not a control freak who wants to manipulate us for the fun of it; but, He knows that when we become self-sufficient we forget to rely on Him. We trust instead in bank accounts and human relationships while all the time it is His provision that truly sustains us.

This Had Better Be Strong Velcro!

posted by Mike Blackaby

I watched in horror as my brother and three of my friends plummeted into the depths of the Corinthian Canal, attached to a chord held by…Velcro? Oh no, my turn. Attempting to look brave I crawled to the ledge. I jumped! Well, I wanted to, but my legs were like jell-o, so I kind of just fell forward, but what a rush! I’ll always remember that experience. I had never experienced such fear! I had never known such excitement!

Confession!

posted by Andrew Hebert

“Therefore if the Son sets you free, you really will be free.” John 8:36 (HCSB)

One of my biggest struggles is that of repetitive sin. It started when I was a younger. No matter how many times my parents told me not to, and no matter how many times they would discipline me when I disobeyed, I just couldn’t seem to stop dissing my parents when they told me to do something that I didn’t want to do.

He Did It His Way

posted by Lisa Huddleston

The story of Cain and Abel has always been a little disturbing to me. Guess that’s because I can relate to Cain’s desire to do things his own way. Why was Abel’s offering accepted, but Cain’s rejected? What made Abel’s gift better than Cain’s? Was God playing favorites?

Conversations with God

posted by Kaylan Christopher

It felt weird at first—honestly spilling my guts and using a tone that I thought may be somewhat irreverent in his presence. But then I realized something. That’s the way he wants me to come to him—he wants to talk with the real me. Since I made this discovery, my prayer life has become more alive than ever before. I don’t feel like I’m praying to the ceiling any longer. I feel connected to the Father in a way that is even harder for me to explain.
