Where is my Phone?
Every day when I open my e-mail, I find it’s constantly flooded with infamous forwards from family and friends that have already haunted inboxes around the world for years.
You know the ones I’m talking about—the cheesy, ridiculous e-mail forwards that result in hardcore eye rolling and cause you to click “delete” as fast as possible. And most of them warn that if you don’t forward it on to at least 50 percent of the contacts in your address book, you’ll be cursed, resulting in bad luck or misfortune for a lengthy amount of time.

And the Winner is…
I had many hobbies and amusements growing up. I enjoyed hockey, guitar, PS2 etc. However, of all my pastimes—I won’t lie—my favorite was tormenting my little sister Carrie. Being three years younger, she was the perfect target for my cruel shenanigans.

An Illustration from the “Throne”
I have an embarrassing confession to make. Sometimes those of us who are in preparation for ministry have some weird quirks. As an example, I sometimes like to challenge myself to find sermon illustrations in situations where I have nothing better to do. For instance, when I am sitting in traffic or studying at the library or shopping at the grocery store, I like to keep my “preacher senses” sharp by trying to observe and find sermon illustrations in that particular situation.
One of the more embarrassing and dorky situations is trying to find illustrations in the restroom.
Have I Trained Enough?
Have I trained enough? How long does training take? What will the results be? Those are three questions that haven’t stopped repeating in my head since my last post about training my core.
Dreams and Desires
Where do dreams go in the cold, harsh light of day? Some are so faint that no memory of them remains when we open our eyes. Some are frightened away by the real world and dissolve into steaming green goo like the Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz. Remember? “I’m melting …” Yet, there are those dreams that linger.

Space Mountain
On a family trip to Disney World, my Dad decided it was time for his oldest son (I was four-years-old) to experience Space Mountain. Right away there were obvious obstacles—my height, the large crowds, and Mom. “We” decided to wait out the large crowds, encourage Mom to do some shopping (so she might remain ignorant of our adventure), and, well, we’d worry about my height when we got there.

Passing the Time
One afternoon, when our youngest son Seth was two, he loudly declared, in broken toddler English, “I God.” Seth does have a strong sense of self - and for that, we are thankful. However, if he makes a life-habit of such pronouncements, he will, of course, be living the grandest delusion.

What Are You Looking For?
Like the people of Jesus’ day, our hearts have grown callous, our ears are hard of hearing, and we have shut our eyes because to feel, to hear, and to see means we have to respond. We need Jesus to open our eyes to those around us who need Him just as badly as we do. “Open your eyes and look at the fields, for they are ready for harvest.” Really … what are you looking for?

Stone Face
I can’t play real golf, but I’m pretty good at the kid’s version. I remember a mini golf course I went to with my family while on vacation. It was amazing! There were castles, pirate ships, and windmills. It was like walking into a fantasy world!

Distractions
I have two problems. The first is this: I am self-conscious and don’t like to look stupid. That does not work out too well with my second problem: I tend to make a fool of myself regularly…
