I Hate Running
I hate running. I mean, why go out in the summer heat and beat it out on the pavement when you can sit at home, watch a movie and eat a huge bowl of ice cream? You can be healthy and exercise, but you’ll just die anyway. I’d rather die face-down in a plate of fudge! My wife, on the other hand, is another story. She very much enjoys running. In fact, the very first “date” we had was when she asked if I would accompany her while she ran in downtown Dallas, so she wouldn’t have to worry about being mugged or anything. The only reason I agreed was that I thought this would be the only way I could get to be around her, and I personally think she was using this as an excuse for the same thing, but she will never admit it. As soon as I knew that we had become an item, the running quickly stopped. Was I running with ulterior motives? Absolutely!

Friendly Neighborhood Insomniac - Part 1
I couldn’t fall asleep at night. I was assured this was a normal struggle for boys my age and that it would quickly pass. However, my insomnia didn’t pass… it got worse. And worse.
The Great Imitators
I remember a church camp I attended a couple of years back. The theme was two Greek words I was not familiar with: Phroneo Christou. Together these words mean “the attitude of Christ.” Through study of the Gospels we are able to see images of Christ’s attitude as He interacted with His followers and those who were in opposition to His teachings. We are able to walk through His trials and temptations and have the privilege of learning from His actions and reactions. Ephesians 4:22-24 commands us to “put off [our] old self” and “be made new in the attitude of [our] minds…created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” The first verse of chapter five directly commands us to “Be imitators of God, therefore, and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us…” As Paul tells us in Philippians, “To live is Christ and to die is gain.”
Who Do You Think You Are?
Well, we all get a little down from time to time. It was just harmless talk, right? Sadly, no. Our thoughts have a huge impact on our actions. In fact, Proverbs 23:7 basically says that the thoughts make the man. Negative words come from negative thoughts and lead to negative actions or the stagnating paralysis of no action at all.

I Would Rather Die
Public speaking is the most widespread phobia, even topping the fear of death! This often makes my dad say, “People would rather die than give a speech!” I am one of those people. My whole life I have been afraid of public speaking!
