AB…D? Please Don’t Fire Me

posted by Daniel Blackaby

When you’re like me, lazy and terminally useless, there are few things in life as humbling as filling out a job application:

Two-Face: Flaming Silver

posted by Mike Blackaby

I have a wild imagination, so a couple days after seeing The Dark Knight I remained a prime target for a scare. It was about 11:00 p.m. and I was in my apartment when something caught my eye. I dismissed it as a mind trick but the hairs stood a little straighter on the back of my neck. Out of curiosity, I decided to check my window (it is the perfect size for a psycho clown to enter!) when a figure jumped from the shadows and pounded the window, shrieking at the top of its lungs.

Fill ‘Er Up!

posted by Lisa Huddleston

A friend recently thanked me for sharing Psalm 42 with him during a particularly difficult time in his life. He told me that, although he wasn’t sure of the exact theological meaning of the psalm’s seventh verse, he had come to believe that no matter how deep his personal abyss of pain or need that God’s presence could and would entirely fill it. That sounded pretty profound, and it got me thinking about how shallow my grasp of God really is. How many areas of my life have I closed off to His influence and to a deeper filling of His Holy Spirit? How much, or how little, room have I made for God in my life?

Seeking God in the Wilderness

posted by Sarah Gallagher

On a recent camping trip, as I looked to the sky of Colorado from the mountains and took in the beauty surrounding, the anthem of this Psalm really sunk in. God’s creation is praising Him constantly; Christ is glorified in all His handiwork. Sometimes I lose this sense of wonder: the power of God and the splendor of His creation. For me, it took a hike into the wilderness to rediscover the intensity of Christ’s glory. His beauty as revealed through His creation astounds me!

I Don’t Feel So Good…

posted by Daniel Blackaby

As most guys do, I continually seek to maintain a fairly high score on the macho-o-meter (although the fact that I’m only five foot six and embarrassingly scrawny doesn’t help matters). I like to give off the impression that I’m a pretty strong guy who’s got things together. However, these masculine ideals were tossed out the window last week when I caught a virus and completely self-destructed.

Mission Impossible 4: Lord of the Frosting

posted by Mike Blackaby

He stared at me from across the table, his eyes cold, his face expressionless. “Your mission,” he said, “should you choose to accept it, is to help the four of us eat this entire Black Forest cake.” The challenge was made, and four sets of eyes eagerly watched for my reaction. The suspense hung in the air like a cloud. “Waitress,” I called, “would you be so kind as to bring us five forks?” Five Friends…one cake…so it begins.

Sensing the Unseen

posted by Lisa Huddleston

From the creation of the world His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what He has made. Romans 1:20a

God has gifted us with five senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. Miraculous avenues through which the Spirit enters the physical world of our lives and brings brief glimpses of what we are unable to ascertain in our present tents of flesh.

Why Perform for Others?

posted by Luke Harper

This summer I decided to tryout for my high school football team. On the first day of practice as we walked down to the practice field, it seemed like all of us were sizing up the competition. There are guys that are six foot five, guys who can run fast and others who have so much endurance they can run five miles and still not be tired.

STEP UP 3: AFRICA

posted by Mike Blackaby

There is a common stereotype that white boys can’t dance. Some misinformed individuals obviously have never heard of Justin Timberlake, Vanilla Ice, or…did I say Justin Timberlake already? Sick and tired of the label stuck on our fellow Caucasians, my brother and I decided to set the record straight once and for all.
