Can You Hear Me Up There?

posted by Jonathan Frank

Here I am almost two months into my “college experience” as everyone over the age of forty likes to call it, and I still couldn’t be happier with my choice in a school. It is the perfect distance from home—about an hour and a half (which allows for space and time away from home, but I can still go back on a whim), I’ve met a lot of great people, and I enjoy my classes. My one complaint, however, is that sometimes I do feel a little “lost in the crowd.”

“Peak” Performance: Beware the slippery slope…

posted by Mike Blackaby

The first step to skiing is getting the right gear, and my mother was not cutting any corners. She bought a brand new snowsuit, gloves, head band, goggles, woolen socks, neck warmer and thermal underwear–all name brand of course. Then it was time to choose equipment. She bypassed the cheap and used section and walked straight to the top-of-the-line display (much to the glee of our sales person!).

Sitting Pretty

Godly posture also involves turning from sin. How can I go forward with God if I’m not willing to forsake my sin? How can I hear new things from Him if I am hardening my heart to the rebuke He’s already given?

Old Faithless

It started as a flicker, and later it became a black out, until exploding into full blown Narcolepsy. Without warning, the T.V. screen would suddenly shutdown. Rebelution

Alabama State Supreme Court interns. Grassroots statewide campaign directors. Web site designers and bloggers. Published authors. Conference speakers. These are just a few titles that 19-year-old Alex and Brett Harris can officially add to their resumes. According to these revolutionaries, today’s society associates negativity and trouble with teens, and “allows, encourages, and even trains young people to remain childish for much longer than necessary.” Not to mention that the “media-saturated youth culture is constantly reinforcing lower and lower standards and expectations.”

College

posted by Sarah Gallagher

As night fell and chaos loosened into a milder frenzy, mom and dad said their goodbyes and pulled away. College is something that I have been looking forward to for a while. Some say your high school years are the best four years of your life but I prefer to think that, in terms of schooling, college trumps high school in terms of excitement.
