My son is the face of grace for me. He bears with me as I slowly learn to parent and no matter what mistakes we’ve made the day before, he wakes me up with the same grins and laughs the next morning—kind of reminds me of Lam. 3:22-23 . In the same way, after repentance, God’s mercies are freshly renewed to us. Just as my son forgets that I fussed at him for inadvertently scratching the floor, banging the wall, not eating his whatever he developed a phobia to overnight, etc., God has removed my sins and failures as far as the east is from the west. During a particularly tough time in my life of struggling to accept God’s forgiveness, a friend reminded me of the words of John 8:36, “So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed” and I realized that in Him we always receive the face of grace.
